The depiction of an angel in this work is informed by medieval illuminated manuscripts, not the chubby, rosy-cheeked cherub we often see in popular culture. This is a warrior/ guardian angel that God uses to protect His people on their earthly journey.
Seen in the corners are the Greek letters for the word victory, NIKA, which is a reminder that the victorious Jesus will someday take us to heaven, to the place that He has prepared.
