Healing

On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
– Rev 22.2 (NIV)

In this piece, the plant is my version of a rose. The thorny branches can remind us of the crown that Jesus wore for us. The red petals bring to mind Jesus’ blood shed for us. As the flower matures and the petals fall the rose produces the rose hip. This fruit can be made into jellies, sauces, syrups, and tea. It is high in vitamin C, so it has healing power for our bodies.

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”
– Galatians 3.13 (NKJV)

Jesus was hung on a tree and His death and resurrection produced the fruit that heals our sin-sick souls. This ties back to the rose’s healing/fruit
