Olive Thrush #2, LCM

This is another view of the Olive Thrush outside the Little Company of Mary Hospital in Pretoria. I was struck by the passers-by who were completely unaware of the little bird in the street, and it reminded me of videos I'd seen on social media where people simply pass by, and even step over, dead bodies in the street. In the documentary 'One Child Nation', a story is told of a newborn girl whose parents could not bear to kill the little girl themselves, so they left her in the market in the hope that someone would take her. She was there for two days and two nights before she died.
